Dr Siad started being actively engaged in academia and lectures in 2010 when she first embarked on her PhD study at the University of Leicester, College of Medicine, Department of Infection, Immunity and Inflammation, where she taught practical classes to undergraduate students in Microbiology and Immunology modules, including marking their practical reports.

From 2014 to present, she has also been invited as guest lecturer to deliver lectures on disaster modules at Coventry University – covering Infectious Diseases in Refugee and IDPS.

For her service on lectures, she covers modules including:

- Immunology

- Microbiology

- Infectious diseases

- Medical diagnostics

- Female Genital Mutilation (FGM)
